How the license notices work

Each local edition includes the license texts and credits for the components it actually uses. The MIT notices retain the original authors’ copyright, the full permission text and the warranty disclaimer. The license permits commercial use and modification when its notice requirements are met.

MIT does not require the entire website to be open source. A Dark Room has separate MPL source obligations, while sounds, fonts, map data and external games have their own terms. Use the links under each title to read the notices for that particular edition.

We Become What We Behold

Created by Nicky Case. This edition uses the English source commit ddf8e0d55dbf5789dfa148d9c5a574267f352790. Nicky Case’s own code and art are dedicated under CC0 1.0. That dedication does not replace the licenses of third-party sounds, libraries or fonts.

The local edition adds responsive sizing, loading feedback, input cleanup and pause/resume/stop support. A local Howler fix handles sounds resumed after their end time. The original art, English story, audio files, creator credits and support links are retained.

PIXI.js, Howler.js and TweenJS retain their MIT notices; notices for bundled helpers are also included. The unmodified Poppins Medium font uses the SIL Open Font License 1.1, with the Indian Type Foundry credit.

Sound credits include “rubber duck small 2” by ermfilm, “cricket 1.mp3” by cs272, “Shield Bash Impact” by Hybrid_V and “Meta Warp.wav” by Andromadax24. Their source and license links, as well as the other sounds identified as CC0 in the original project, are recorded in the full notice. Hybrid_V’s original CC BY 3.0 statement is preserved alongside the current source page’s CC BY 4.0 listing.

The game audio files are unchanged from the selected source package. The ending photograph retains the historical CC0 basis identified by the original project. No blanket CC0 claim is made for the whole package.

Sandspiel

Created by Max Bittker. This edition is based on commit 9936e06b07a583aedfba9589c0cead2917f405fb under MIT, Copyright (c) 2018 Max Bittker. Its fluid simulation includes MIT code, Copyright (c) 2017 Pavel Dobryakov.

The original Rust cellular rules, fluid simulation and shaders are used with a local canvas and control panel. The original account, community, analytics, advertising and service-worker integrations are not part of this player.

The shader notices cover glsl-noise under MIT and glsl-random under BSD-3-Clause. Rust dependency and standard-library notices are supplied separately. The local HSV color conversion is independently written; the original unlicensed helper is not included.

The homepage canvas image and six experiment pairs were captured from the local game. They show actual scenes, not imported presets. The game’s license and third-party notices apply to the underlying work.

A Dark Room

Created by Michael Townsend and the A Dark Room contributors; StateManager also credits Michael Galusha. This edition is based on commit 1fada4620b6c66bd07bf15a3f1eb8223df8bc1d7. The game and the local modifications to its covered files are available in Source Code Form under the Mozilla Public License 2.0.

The distributed game JavaScript and CSS are the readable, editable files used by the player; the game code has no separate compilation step. The inventory lists the exact files and hashes. The full notice explains how to obtain the served source, including the entry document, and links to the unchanged upstream version for comparison.

Local changes provide an English text-only edition, local libraries, isolated saves, validation before import, keyboard-friendly buttons, safe property access and player lifecycle controls. The original exploration-save behavior is retained: return safely to the village before leaving.

jQuery 1.10.1 and jQuery Color 2.1.2 are distributed under their own MIT licenses. The original game’s audio package is not included.

Mosslight Grove

Play Games Daily edition: 0.1.0-local. Combat, world, effects, input, progression, animation and interface mechanisms include adaptations of JPTER78/pokesurvivor at commit b29708900da26b34e70d2dc07ad1659a719f4a78. That historical code is MIT, Copyright (c) 2026 JPTER78; the complete permission and warranty notice accompanies the player.

The companions, enemies, character data, scenery, icons, interface design and synthesized sounds were made for this edition. The original Pokémon sprite sets, PokeAPI character tables, downloaded fonts and online-service code are excluded. Retained algorithms and interface flows keep their upstream attribution.

The cited historical commit identifies the MIT code used here. Later upstream code has different terms and is outside this edition’s recorded source.

Lantern Post

Play Games Daily edition: 0.1.3. The word-path game, Pip the moth courier, illustrations, 32 letters, short definitions and synthesized sounds were created for Play Games Daily.

The game uses 566 selected spellings from Wordnik’s free MIT word list at commit 46e6215d0f90356afe9c8ba4be347e7e98cb425c, file wordlist-20210729.txt. Copyright (c) 2020 Wordnik. The definitions and stories were written for this game; Wordnik’s paid dictionary definitions, frequency data and other paid datasets are not included.

The Wordnik license applies to the selected word data. The game’s full notice describes the original contributions and uses system fonts.

Pocket Atelier

Play Games Daily edition: 0.1.1-local. The forest customers, wardrobe, artwork, nine commissions, game rules and synthesized sounds were created for this sewing-room game.

Its canvas compositor and PNG-download flow adapt a small part of wolfderechter/DollMaker, commit 4fd5adcf48640e238401bb2b4dd75c3702be644c, under MIT. Copyright 2024 wolfderechter. The source notice identifies the adapted functions and local changes.

The original DollMaker PNG collection and DragDropTouch library are excluded. The new artwork is drawn locally with Canvas, SVG and CSS, and the interface uses system fonts.

Comet Courier

Play Games Daily edition: 0.1.0. Dot the courier, the worlds, routes, delivery objectives, game simulation, interface and synthesized sounds were created for this project.

The road-quad and gradient-sphere drawing structures adapt ttxxjj1/Slope at commit 65bdf824eaffeed556c32809ebb995b263204962. Copyright (c) 2026 ttxxjj. The original Comet Courier contributions are Copyright (c) 2026 Play Games Daily contributors. Both are distributed under the complete MIT license supplied with this game.

This edition uses its own visual content and system fonts. No Y8 game package, original Slope branding or downloaded game media is included.

Harbor Hearts

Play Games Daily edition: 0.1.0. The code, harbor artwork, characters, card-symbol drawings, explanations and synthesized sounds were created for Play Games Daily. No third-party Hearts implementation, card deck, font file or recording is bundled.

The game independently implements traditional Hearts rules with the table variants described in its notice. Bicycle and CardGames.io were used as rule references; their articles, software, artwork and branding were not copied into the game.

The material notice records this edition’s original contributions. It does not claim ownership of traditional Hearts rules or assign another publisher’s license to them.

Atlas at Scale

Play Games Daily edition: 0.1.1. The game code, interface, paper artwork, compass, scoring, prompts and share-card drawings were created for this project.

Made with Natural Earth. The 28 selected map features come from ne_110m_admin_0_countries.geojson at commit ca96624a56bd078437bca8184e78163e5039ad19, identified by that source as 5.2.0-pre. Natural Earth places its map data in the public domain and permits commercial use, modification and electronic distribution.

The outlines are transformed from that fixed dataset. Displayed areas are estimates from low-resolution map geometry on a spherical Earth, not current official statistical area figures. The full source notice and transformation summary accompany the game.

Velvet Alibi

Play Games Daily edition: 0.1.0. The shared-screen game code, category curation, 80 words, interface text and vector artwork were created for Play Games Daily.

No third-party game code, word database, card set, font or artwork is bundled. Its familiar social-deduction premise is implemented with the house rules described in the game. This edition has not been offered under a separate open-source license.

Progress Knight

Play Games Daily edition: 0.1.1. Original game by Ihtasham42, also credited as chowdhuryihtasham. This edition uses commit f6dd0c3c444d838f80325bbdca918160b99e89e5 under the Unlicense, which permits commercial use, modification and redistribution.

The original jobs, skills, items, descriptions and progression formulas are retained. Play Games Daily’s additions include the interface, SVG crest, local save validation, import/export and player lifecycle controls. The notice describes those changes.

The runtime excludes the original HackTimer worker, remote W3.CSS and Discord image. The license file also retains HackTimer’s separate MIT reference notice, Copyright (c) 2015 Ruslan Tushov, and explicitly identifies it as a reference dependency that is not loaded here.

Eight of the ten original JavaScript files are unchanged. The other two have the documented local storage-key and page-wrapper adaptations. The original movement, merging, scoring and win/loss algorithms are retained.

The page, responsive styles, direction buttons, storage guard and decorative SVG artwork were created for this edition. Original font files, stylesheets, SCSS helpers, favicon and startup images are excluded; the new interface uses system fonts.

Games supplied through official publishers
